JANE MARIE ROGERS, LICENSED MASSAGE THERAPIST

Physical pain is a force of isolation. Even though it is one of the most universal human experiences, when we are deep in pain it can be hard to see anything outside of it. It makes it harder to connect to those around us—they cannot feel what we are feeling it and we cannot share it. It makes it harder to connect with ourselves—our bodies becomes something separate from our consciousnesses, "my body is hurting me," and we dissociate to escape it. And it makes it harder to connect with our own futures—imagining a world outside of the present now of pain, imagining a future where the pain ends, becomes daunting, if not impossible.
My calling, in this practice, is to flip this paradigm on its head: to hold your pain with you, to let it be a force of connection, and by coming to understand it better together, to help you let go of it. This work begins in anatomy, a detailed understanding of the body in physical space, but extends beyond it into the emotional and spiritual bodies as well—hurt, anxiety, and spiritual suffering all bound up together. Pain can be isolating, yes, but if held with compassion it can also become an arrow pointing us towards healing, towards newness, towards an ease we didn't know we could reach.
MODALITIES
MYOFASCIAL
RELEASE
Gentle, gradual pressure
used to target fascia—the web
of connective tissue that surrounds and intertwines
with all your muscles—rehydrating stuck tissue and restoring mobility
TRIGGER POINT
THERAPY
Facilitated, focused release
of a specific disfunction called
a trigger point, a taut bundle
of muscle that refers pain elsewhere in the body. This work is frequently intense,
but the relief is dramatic
POSITIONAL
RELEASE
Moving the client's body,
often with pressure on a
muscle or joint, until we find the natural position that joint already wants to be in, then letting it rest there until all the tension melts away on its own
DEEP TISSUE
MASSAGE
The classic. Traditional massage, using lotion or oil to glide across the body—
either gently for easy
relaxation, or firmly for
broad, therapeutic release
MINDBODY
INTEGRATION
For many clients, especially those disenfranchised by our society, it can be hard to connect with the body. This is soft, lightly guided work, to
help re-associate and be with ourselves gently
MUSCLE ENERGY
TECHNIQUES
Activating the client's muscles
—usually via gentle resistance exercises—to target and
release specific stuck muscles
or muscle groups, improving range of motion, joint
mobility, and posture
APPOINTMENT PRICING
Sessions are priced at a flat hourly rate of $80/hour
- 1 hour massage: $80
- 1.5 hour massage: $120

I do offer a sliding scale in cases of either particular need or continual care (scheduling multiple sessions to treat a specific or chronic pain). If you are need to use the sliding scale, you can simply let me know at your appointment.
I also offer one free hour-long session a month reserved for BIPOC and/or those with disabilities. If you are interested in scheduling a pro bono session, let me know when you are reaching out.
For payment, cash is strongly preferred, but venmo and cashapp are also accepted.
MY STUDIO
I work out of a small private studio in the second floor of my home. Stairs are required to get up to the studio, let me know if that is an issue. I do have two housemates who might be milling around the home during the session, but they know to be quiet and and respectful. I also have cats in the house in case allergies are a concern.
CANCELLATION POLICY
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please let me know as soon as you can. I am frequently scheduling these appointments in what would otherwise be my free time to spend with my friends and family—though sometimes unavoidable, cancellations can have a significant impact on my ability to live my own life, something I, of course, want to protect.
If you must cancel/reschedule on the same day as your appointment, you will be responsible for half the cost (50%) of the session.
If you miss you appointment as a “no call/ no show”, you will be responsible for the full fee (100%) for the missed session.
If you cannot make your scheduled appointment time for any reason, you are, of course, welcome to send a friend in your place, with advance notice.
This policy is challenging to enforce, both as an individual with limited capacity, and also as a sympathetic member of the community I am working with. But it's important to me, for the sake of my own time and energy, to have it in place and be firm in it. I appreciate your understanding and respect for the thought that went into it.
